Existing Get Online Broadband ADSL 500 Solo users can upgrade for a one-off £15 re-grade fee and enjoy up to double the speed for the same monthly cost!

October 2004 - Lower excess traffic charges

We are dropping the charge for 'excess' traffic used after the 1st October 2004 to £3.50 + VAT per gigabyte (was £4.00 + VAT per gigabyte). To see the standard traffic allocations for each type of ADSL broadband account - see the 'Traffic Policy' in our Usage Policy.

These traffic quotas currently affect less than 5% of users and are set at a level to allow the majority of users to have the full cost and performance benefits of broadband without subsidising the heavier usage of a small percentage of users.

If you have any questions please contact us.

August 2004 - Migrate to Get Online for FREE

[UPDATE: Offer will now be extended until the end of October 2004]

Our offer to migrate your ADSL connection to us has been extended until the end of October 2004. See Why Us for details of why you should move to us - then contact us for full details.

This is currently available for ADSL 500 Solo and ADSL 1000 Solo - the other ADSL services will be added very shortly - please contact us for further details.

20.0 Gbytes

If you have any questions please contact us for further details.

June 2004 - 'Extended Reach' For More Exchanges

The 'extended reach' trial in Milton Keynes is being extended to two more exchanges:

Fort William (01397 71X XXX & 01397 70X XXX numbers)

Dingwall (01349 86X XXX numbers)

Some important points:

  • We are able to accept orders now that will be placed with BT on 1st July 2004.
  • The trial is currently limited to the first 100 applications at each exchange.
  • You must have a telephone number that has previously tested RED (i.e. unable to receive ADSL broadband).
  • Only 500kbps services will be available and they will be 'rate adaptive'.
  • The trial runs until 30th September 2004.
  • If you are accepted it may require a visit by a BT engineer to your property.

If you have any questions or would like us to check your line for availability on this trial please contact us for further details.

May 2004 - ADSL coverage reaches 90%

We are happy to report that now nine out of ten UK homes and businesses are now connected to exchanges providing broadband ADSL services.

Once an exchange has been upgraded approximately 96% of people on that exchange can receive broadband - the remainder being too far for current ADSL technology.

The 'extended reach' trail we are participating in (see below) around the Milkton Keynes area will hopefully make it possible to extend the maximum distance beyond the current 6km and therefore extend broadband availability to almost everyone on enabled exchanges.

If you have any questions please contact us for further details.

May 2004 - ADSL broadband coverage to reach 99%

BT have released further details of their exchange upgrade process and have confirmed their goal to upgrade all but the smallest exchanges to make ADSL broadband available to over 99% of UK homes and businesses.

If you have any questions please contact us for further details.

May 2004 - Migrate to Get Online for FREE

[UPDATE: Offer will now be extended until the end of July 2004]

Fed up with your current ADSL broadband provider? Until the end of May 2004 we are waiving the charge (normally £35 + VAT) if you migrate your existing ADSL broadband service from another ISP to us.

See Why Us for details of why you should move to us - then contact us for full details.

This is currently available for ADSL 500 Solo and ADSL 1000 Solo - the other ADSL services will be added very shortly - please contact us for further details.

May 2004 - Milton Keynes extended reach trial

We are currently participating in an 'extended reach' technology trail in the Milkton Keynes area where many people were too far from an exchange to receive current ADSL broadband servies).

If successful it will hopefully prove the technology in a real world environment and then make it possible to extend the maximum distance beyond the current 6km for all ADSL broadband enabled exchanges.

Some important points:

  • We are able to accept orders now that will be placed with BT on 17th May 2004.
  • The trial is currently is limited to the first 1000 applications.
  • You must have a 01908 telephone number that has previously tested RED (i.e. unable to receive ADSL broadband).
  • Only 500kbps services will be available and they will be 'rate adaptive'.
  • The trial runs until 1st September 2004.
  • If you are accepted it may require a visit by a BT engineer to your property.

If you have any questions or would like us to check your line for availability on this trial please contact us for further details.

May 2004 - Extended half-price upgrade offer

We have extended the offer of half-price upgrade from ADSL 500 Solo to ADSL 1000 Solo until the until the end of May 2004 - see the news item below for more details.

April 2004 - Half-price ADSL 'Solo' upgrades

If you currently have ADSL 500 Solo - why not upgrade to 1Mbit/s ADSL 1000 Solo for HALF PRICE until the end of April 2004. The normal upgrade cost is £35 + VAT - so upgrade now for just £17.50 + VAT and enjoy faster performance.

Notes: Availability of ADSL 1000 Solo is dependent on the length of your telephone line from the local BT exchange. The upgrade typically requires downtime of less than 1 hour and is usually completed in 7 days after the order has been accepted.

If this would be of interest please contact us quoting your ADSL user name so we can check availability on your telephone line and confirm the upgrade and new service costs.

April 2004 - Lower excess traffic charges

We are dropping the charge for 'excess' traffic used after the 1st April 2004 to £4.00 + VAT per gigabyte. To see the standard traffic allocations for each type of ADSL broadband account - see the 'Traffic Policy' in our Usage Policy.

We would like to stress that currently less than 6% of our ADSL broadband users exceed their monthly traffic allocation. Traffic quotas are set at a level to allow the vast majority of users to have the full cost and performance benefits of broadband without subsidising the very heavy usage of a small percentage of users.

If you have any questions please contact us.

March 2004 - BBC / BBCi broadband content

March 2004 - 12 month pre-pay option

Many people have asked if we can bill for a full year up front rather than quarterly billing - we would like to announce this is now available!

The other good news is as it reduces the administration for us as well we are prepared to pass on our saving by reducing the cost of your broadband service by £2 + VAT per month.

The great news is that for our most popular service (ADSL 500 Solo) this saving is worth £24 + VAT per year - equivalent to a monthly cost of just £20 + VAT - saving over 9% or effectively getting a month for free!

To make this even better we wanted to assure all customers that this does not tie you into a 12 month contract - if you do need to cancel after the first 3 month period you can do so at any time with just 7 days notice and receive a full refund (as detailed in the 'Cancellation Policy' in our Terms and Conditions).

The only difference with the 12 month pre-pay option is if you do need to cancel within the 12 month period you will receive a credit for the unused time. This credit will be calculated as what you have paid for the year less what you would have paid on the equivalent quarterly billing - so even if you did need to cancel early it would cost you no more than on our standard billing option.

If you have any questions or would like to take advantage of this saving please contact us.
